The project "Visions in the North: Where Horizons Meet" (Visioner i Norr: När horisonter möts) has been nominated for the Landscape Architecture Award 2026! Out of 36 strong candidates, our work was selected for its way of creating sustainable environments and vibrant gathering places.
The project is about shaping Älvrummet in Gällivare into a place where nature, culture, and the local community meet in the midst of the major green transition in the north. Through engaging workshops and hands-on efforts—such as salvaging and relocating local vegetation—we are exploring how to preserve and harness both the historical and future values of the site.
The work during 2025 marked the kickoff for a vision that extends to 2035. The project is a collaboration with, among others, Lo:Le landskap, artist Ramona Salo, ecologists Kari Anne Braathen and Eva Breitschopf (based in Northern Norway), Heiti Ernits from RISE, as well as architects Anna Esbjörnsson and Johanna Minde.
