Close to Lödöse is a proposal for a new stormwater pond and wetland park combining water management with ecological, recreational and educational qualities. The pond will collect, treat and retain stormwater from a new residential area, school and sports hall before it reaches the receiving water body.

The proposal builds on an earlier design that provided sufficient stormwater capacity but left limited space for other functions. By reducing and reshaping the pond, the design creates room for a more diverse landscape with greater ecological, recreational and educational value.

The pond is designed as a long, organic water landscape with varying depths. This allows the water to move slowly through the pond, giving sediments and pollutants time to settle and allowing vegetation and microorganisms to contribute to the treatment of the water.

Biodiversity is strengthened through a variety of wet and dry habitats. Shallow water zones, aquatic vegetation, stone piles and flowering and fruit-bearing trees and shrubs provide habitats and food for amphibians, insects and birds. Much of the vegetation is intended to establish naturally over time.

The wetland park is also designed as a place for people. Accessible paths form a loop around the pond, with small bridges and boardwalks allowing visitors to experience the water and vegetation up close. A timber deck with seating steps provides a place to stay by the water and can also be used as an outdoor classroom for nearby schools.
