The concept for the design of Station Park is based on two complementary spatial experiences. Firstly, the project celebrates the linear movement and energy associated with the neighbouring train station through a simple and spacious area dedicated to street-style skateboarding. The open geometry references the rhythm and directionality of rail infrastructure, creating an urban landscape that encourages creativity, progression and social interaction.

In contrast, the second part of the park offers a more organic riding experience. A flowing skate landscape has been carefully woven between the existing pine trees, integrating the park with the surrounding woodland. The concrete surfaces were pigment-coloured to reflect the warm tones of the site’s sandy substrates, helping the intervention blend naturally into its environment.

The crossover points between the street plaza and the flow park intentionally blur the boundaries between the two riding typologies, encouraging users to explore new lines, movements and challenges.

The design was carefully developed to respect the existing ecological conditions of the site. The layout preserves the positioning and root zones of the mature pines, while additional pine trees, including dwarf varieties, have been planted around and within the park to strengthen the woodland character over time.

All hard surfaces are graded towards a central planted rain garden designed to capture and manage stormwater during heavy rainfall events, integrating climate-responsive infrastructure into the recreational landscape.
