Commissioned by Familjebostäder, Mareld has developed and revitalized the playground and park environment at Rymdtorget in Bergsjön. Taking advantage of the site's sloping terrain, we allowed the natural contours to define the framework of the design. By utilizing retaining walls with integrated seating, we have successfully embraced and strengthened the various areas—like small satellites in the landscape—while prioritizing the reuse of existing materials wherever possible.
At the bottom of the slope, a generous plaza has been created. Here, natural granite stone and concrete pavers blend into a seamless floor that invites social interaction and provides excellent vantage points for the adjacent sports pitches. Adjacent to the plaza, a new terrazzo stage has been established, and a new, larger barbecue area has been constructed to facilitate social gatherings.
The crowning glory is a unique play structure inspired by an airship. It has become a distinct landmark that serves not only the local residents but also attracts visitors from across the city for play and physical activity.
