During 2024 MARELD collaborated with Civitta to develop a new green strategy for Narva.

Narva is a city in northeastern Estonia, situated on the Narva River, which forms the border between Estonia and Russia. It has a rich history, but the city was also heavily damaged during World War II, which has left its mark on the urban fabric. MARELD’s task was to integrate ecosystem services further into the existing green structure in a cost-efficient way. Questions such as how to diversify Soviet-era courtyards, how to include residents and engage municipal employes were in special focus. Previous experience had shown that despite the exitance of green infrastructure strategies, these were seldom applied in practice.
