Since spring 2024, MARELD has collaborated with Molumba and Lootusprojekt on the detailed design for Old City Harbor’s Terminal A, including the Port of Tallinn’s (AS Tallinna Sadam) new office building, a parking structure, as well as the adjacent urban public spaces and a linear park. The site covers 5 hectares. Terminal A is an important transportation hub, with thousands of passengers traveling daily between Tallinn and Helsinki. The procurement documents have now been completed and will soon be made available for contractors to submit their tenders.

With the proposal, the city and the harbor are reconnected, creating new opportunities for residents and visitors to spend quality time by the sea. The project aims to create a versatile and welcoming destination that offers a pleasant experience within a vibrant urban environment. For those arriving by sea, it will serve as a striking gateway to Estonia. For those approaching from the city, it offers a friendly gateway to the world.

The Port of Tallinn is Estonia’s largest cargo and passenger port complex and plays a vital role in both the national transport system and the broader economy. The Port also seeks to bring the city closer to the waterfront by offering residents and tourists opportunities to enjoy high‑quality public spaces at the sea’s edge in the heart of the city.
